Responding to today’s statistical release on net migration – that it has fallen to 216,000 in the year to December 2011 – Frank Field and Nicholas Soames, Co-Chairs of the Cross Party Group on Balanced Migration, said:

"It is clearly proving very difficult to get immigration down to a sensible level but it is vital that the Government redouble their efforts to do so. We will hold them to account in the debate on immigration on the floor of the House next week."
