The WI and the NFU this week teamed up to launch the Great Milk Debate which was officially launched in London on the 23rd April 2007.
About 100 debates and actions are taking place across the country between the 23rd April and the 4th May 2007. The debates are part of the WI’s Farmgate Milk Prices campaign to raise awareness of the issues facing dairy farmers.
Nicholas was invited to speak on Wednesday 25th April at the South of England Agricultural Society in Ardingly by the WI.
Mr Soames was joined by dairy farmers and processors and an audience of 250 people who debated what the industry needs to do to ensure it is viable and sustainable.
