Nicholas Soames, Mid Sussex’s MP, took Andrew Lansley MP, this morning to visit the Princess Royal Hospital to familiarise himself with the situation.
After the meeting with Duncan Selbie, the new Chief Executive of the Brighton and Sussex University Hospitals NHS Trust; Nicholas Soames commented; “Andrew was very impressed with all that he saw and heard at the PRH. He has a real grasp of the reconfiguration issues which are indeed being replicated all over the country.”
Andrew Lansley and Nicholas Soames visited the A&E and met A&E nurses and the duty consultants and other staff.
After visiting the PRH Nicholas Soames took Andrew Lansley to visit Roche Diagnostics in Burgess Hill who were keen to discuss Conservative health policy with Mr Lansley.
Commenting Nicholas Soames said; “This was a really useful day and I am very grateful to Andrew Lansley for taking the trouble to come down and visit the PRH to see what a magnificent facility it is and to learn from campaigners, who he met outside the PRH on arrival, of the vital task of keeping our much valued and necessary A&E and maternity services.“
On returning to Haywards Heath Nicholas Soames joined the panel at the first Fit for the Future public meeting on the future of the PRH.
