Nicholas Soames attended as a member of the panel the West Sussex Primary Care Trust’s public meeting last night in Haywards Heath.
Commenting on the meeting, Nicholas Soames said; “I was appalled that so many people were unable to get into this very important meeting and I think the Primary Care Trust made a big mistake in not finding a larger location for the meeting given that the same thing has happened in many other places in Mid Sussex.
“That said it was a thoroughly excellent gathering and local people, in many cases with really well informed questions, let the Primary Care Trust know in no uncertain terms that we cannot accept the proposals as they stand in Mid Sussex.
“There is a clear feeling that the Princess Royal Hospital is uniquely well placed to expand its services.”
Mr Soames went on; “The question of maternity services is particularly worrying and it is clear that there is a great deal more work to be done. I urge everyone to attend the Support the Princess Royal Hospital Campaign march on Saturday 13th October in Haywards Heath, to show that we simply cannot go along with what is being proposed.”
