Sir NIcholas Soames: To ask the Secretary of State for Education, how many schools in the county of West Sussex were funded (a) by the local authority and (b) centrally in the financial years 2010-11 to 2015-16.
Mr Sam Gyimah, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Childcare and Education: The table below sets out the number of schools funded by the local authority and centrally in West Sussex. There have been an increasing number of providers who are funded centrally as they join the academy programme. It should be noted that academies are funded using the same local authority formulae as a local authority maintained school, and any differences locally reflect the demographic profile and population volume of the school or academy.
