Mid Sussex MP, Nicholas Soames said; “Many services are cancelled because staff fail to show up for an identified reason.

 

“The Rail Operators’ excuses are completely unconvincing and there are many ‘no shows’ by their staff. 

 

“Accordingly, I have proposed to the Secretary of State for Transport, The Rt Hon Patrick McLoughlin MP, and to the Rail Minister, Claire Perry MP, that the Rail Operators should be fined every time they have a cancellation because of ‘no shows’ by their staff and that the reason for the cancellation should be immediately transparent to the passengers. 

 

“I hope this would make the Rail Operators take this matter more seriously.”
