Sir Nicholas Soames: To ask the Secretary of State for Transport, what assessment he has made of Network Rail's ability to deliver major projects to time and budget; and if he will make a statement.

Claire Perry, Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Transport: The Secretary of State announced in his statement last week that he has commissioned the new Network Rail chair to return to him in the autumn with proposals on how the Control Period 5 enhancements programme can be re-set in a way that is both affordable and deliverable.
