Justine Greening, Secretary of State for International Development: The humanitarian situation in Syria is catastrophic. More than 93,000 people have been killed, 6.8 million are in need, and a further 1.75 million refugees are in neighbouring countries. By the end of the year, the UN estimates that 10 million people will be in need of assistance in the region. Lebanon now has over 600,000 refugees that have arrived in a country with a population of just over four million—projected to rise to one million by the end of the year.
