NICHOLAS SOAMES MEETS WITH POST OFFICE CAMPAIGNERS

Nicholas Soames met with the Post Office Rescue Campaign on Thursday 14th February at the King Edward Hall in Lindfield.

The meeting was chaired by Councillor Will Blunden, Chairman, of the Lindfield Parish Council, and was attended by amongst others; Councillor Gordon Marples, Leader of Mid Sussex District Council, District Councillors, Garry Wall and Clive Chapman and County Councillor Peter Bradbury.

The meeting was called because of the widespread anxiety at Post Office closures and the apparent failure of the Post Office to consider the many representations that have been made on behalf of various Post Offices under threat in Mid Sussex.

Mr Soames said; “The consultation was a sham and I will be raising all these concerns with the Minister of State for Postal Affairs at the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform on Monday afternoon.

“The Post Office Rescue Campaign, which I am delighted to support, is determined to prevent future closures and it will be meeting again at a later date to plan a long term campaign to preserve these vital local assets from further attrition.”

Nicholas Soames said; “The meeting agreed that if the Postmasters wanted to continue running their Post Offices they should be allowed to do so.”
