Headlines from West Sussex Gazette – 28th July 2005
Four West Sussex MPs helped the West Sussex Gazette deliver a resounding Save Our Countryside message to Downing Street last week.
More than 1,140 petition forms signed by WSG readers to urge Deputy Prime Minister John Prescott not to impose unsustainable levels of housing in the county were taken to Number 10 by Editor Dorothy Blundell.
All seven Conservative MPs in West Sussex have signed the petition which was published in the paper over four months last winter.
Present on the day were Nicholas Soames (Mid Sussex), Francis Maude (Horsham), Nick Herbert (Arundel), and Tim Loughton (East Worthing and Shoreham), each of whom issued strong condemnation of the proposals being recommended for the region by the South East Regional Assembly (SEERA) in the South East Development Plan.
