Mr Soames said; “Whilst I am of course disappointed by this decision and its implications for the Freshfield Lane Brickworks site in Horsted Keynes I do believe that the County Council has had no choice but to postpone the Inquiry.
“The Plan has fallen prey to legal uncertainty following new planning legislation and in the interests of local council tax payers I believe the County Council has made the right decision.”
“On Thursday I chaired a meeting with the Freshfield Lane Action Group and Parish, District and County Councillors from East and West Sussex. The meeting had been arranged to discuss the Group’s representation at the Inquiry but following the County Council’s decision on Wednesday the focus of the meeting turned to the Group’s campaign strategy and the implications of the postponement.
“I will be writing to West Sussex County Council to request a new timetable for the Plan”
