SOAMES WRITES TO MANDELSON TO COMPLAIN ABOUT IMPACT OF POST OFFICE STRIKE

Nicholas Soames MP has written to Lord Mandelson, Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills, the Minister responsible for the Post Office (and practically everything else!), to complain on behalf of a number of constituents whose businesses are being seriously adversely affected by the current disruption to postal and other services.

Following a meeting with the East Grinstead Pensioners’ Association and representations from other older peoples’ groups, Nicholas Soames has also complained to Lord Mandelson that older people receiving benefits by post are beginning to find themselves seriously out of pocket when their money does not arrive on the due day.

Nicholas Soames said; “These postal disruptions are really causing considerable inconvenience and financial difficulty across Mid Sussex and I urge Lord Mandelson to seek a quick resolution to outstanding matters with the Post Office so that the service may return to normal.

“It is intolerable that constituents should be so inconvenienced over such a long time.

“In a number of cases jobs are at risk at companies which depend upon Royal Mail.”

DISSOLUTION OF PARLIAMENT

Parliament has been dissolved until after the General Election on 12th December and there are now no MPs. This website is for reference of my work when I was a Member of Parliament.

I am not seeking re-election.
