Nicholas Soames MP would like to thank all the postmasters who took the time and trouble to complete his recent survey on the withdrawal of Government support for the Post Office Card Account (POCA). There was an excellent response to the survey, with ½ of all postmasters based in Mid Sussex replying.
Nicholas Soames said; “70% of those who responded think the removal of the POCA will jeopardise the viability of their business while 86% think they would lose at least one part-time employee. In order to make post offices more viable, 1/3 of postmasters believe post offices should have bank facilities with all UK Banks and Building Societies.
“I remain concerned that the Government has no interest in preserving our vibrant sub-post office network, which in areas such as Mid Sussex, provide the commercial and social lifeblood to the community.
“I have passed the results to the Shadow Minister and we will continue to oppose the withdrawal of the POCA.”
