East Grinstead MP, Nicholas Soames, has endorsed the findings of the National Audit Office report about railway stations.
Mr Soames said; “Network Rail should closely study the report and see to it that in East Grinstead they tackle the financial and other barriers to improvement so that East Grinstead station provides the facilities and services that rail passengers deserve.
“Last year I made representations to the Strategic Rail Authority and to Network Rail over the appalling state of the Station. East Grinstead is a key market town within the commuter belt and with the proposed housing development and further threats of additional homes through the South East Plan I have also brought together the Local Authority and Southern Railway to see what development opportunities this will bring. In the light of the report I will be making further representations to Network Rail.”
