PRODUCTIVITY

19th April 2016

Sir Nicholas Soames: To ask Mr Chancellor of the Exchequer, what definition the Government uses of productivity.

Greg Hands, Chief Secretary to the Treasury: The government uses a number of measures to examine productivity, looking at output per hour, output per worker and output per job. While the measure used will depend upon the circumstances, output per hour is generally regarded as the best measure.
