Sir NIcholas Soames: To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, how much his Department has spent on additional payments to retain nuclear engineers in service in each financial year between 2005-06 and 2014-15; and if he will make a statement.
Mr Philip Dunne, Minister of State for Defence Procurement: In Financial Year (FY) 2005-06, the Ministry of Defence (MOD) made Recruitment and Retention Allowance (RRA) payments of £1.3 million to civilian Nuclear Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel (NSQEP). Payment information for subsequent financial years for civilian personnel until 2014-15 could be provided only at disproportionate cost.
