Statement by Nicholas Soames and Frank Field following the release of the national population projections by the Office for National Statistics:

"These latest projections confirm the rapid growth in our population resulting mainly from the large scale immigration of recent years. They underline the need to bring net migration sharply down as the Balanced Migration Group has been urging for the last five years."
