COMMUNITY PULLS TOGETHER TO SAVE PLAY MEADOW

Community pulls together to save play meadow in Cuckfield

Nicholas Soames met with families and many others at the play meadow (at the end of Courtmead Road in Cuckfield), on Friday 16th April, in a gathering to show solidarity and resolve to preserve for all time this wonderful community asset.

Nicholas Soames said; “There is a threat that this meadow may be sold. We will not allow this to happen under any circumstances. I have recommended to the District Council that they should grant a long lease to the Cuckfield Parish Council so that it may be preserved for community use.”

“Generations have enjoyed it and it would be an act of madness not to allow it to remain as it is.”  The meadow has been used for over 25 years by the Brownies and for 17 years by the Next Step Nursery.

Mr Soames said; “We absolutely will not allow this play meadow to be damaged in any way.”

Mr Soames was accompanied by Robert Salisbury, Chairman of Cuckield Parish Council and County Councillor Peter Bradbury
