The Conservative Middle East Council (CMEC) has released the following statement on the situation in Iraq:

 

“The plight of the Yazidi community stranded on top of Mount Sinjar, and the slaughter and abduction of those left behind, is the most brutal evidence yet that ISIS, with its twisted and perverted view of Islam, must be stopped.

 

“We support the Government in all its efforts to assist those who are most in peril and to ensure that Iraqi Kurdistan, which is a model of peace and tolerance in the Middle East, is protected.”
