NICHOLAS SOAMES WELCOMES NEWS OF ADDITIONAL INVESTMENT INTO ROLLING STOCK FOR THE RAILWAYS
Nicholas Soames, MP for Mid Sussex, today warmly welcomed the news that the Government is proposing to increase the capacity in congested areas by lengthening trains and by the removal of “pinch points” by 2014. Commenting he said; “People commuting from Burgess Hill, East Grinstead and Haywards Heath, will warmly welcome this news and they need these carriages as soon as possible. It is unfair that people pay so much to travel and are not able to do so in reasonable comfort. “I am writing to the Secretary of State today to urge him to consider apportioning early carriages to hard pressed commuter lines in Mid Sussex whose passengers at peak times get a pretty raw deal.” Commenting further Mr Soames said; “The whole infrastructure of our area is woefully under invested and whilst this is a small step in the right direction with the vast imposition of new houses by the Government on our area we will need to make more investment in other areas of our infrastructure.” -ends- |
